The Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of Coimbra is pleased to invite you to the first international conference organized by MCC – Medical Cannabis Coimbra, entitled “Clearing the smoke….: the importance of the endocannabinoid system in health and disease”. MCC is formed by a group of enthusiastic experts in medical cannabis and biomedicine at the University of Coimbra. For more information about MCC please follow this link. The meeting will take place at the Student Hub – University of Coimbra, on the 9th and 10th of March, 2023.
MCC will provide an unbiased scientific view about the recent developments on medical cannabis. The aim of the congress is to foster scientific discussion about the topic among stakeholders including academic researchers, students, companies, regulatory entities, and health care professionals.
The first day of the congress will be centered around the botany of the cannabis plant and the biology of the human endocannabinoid system – with world leading biomedical researchers summarizing the recent advances on how cannabinoids interact with our body with emphasis on the brain.
The second day of the congress will highlight the legal environment and the pharmaceutical and the therapeutic opportunities associated with medical cannabis.
Poster sessions during the two-day congress will provide an excellent opportunity for participants to discuss and exchange their research and ideas.
The global medical cannabis market is expanding at an unprecedented rate. Despite this stimulating environment, the manufacturers face complex regulations, while the health care sector and the end users demand clear and simple information about the therapeutic benefits and contraindications of cannabinoids and medical cannabis. To this end, our conference aims to clear our vision about these recently legalized medicines.
